The Institute of Geography of the Slovak Academy of Sciences was represented at the Doctoral Storm 2024 event.
The event took place on Wednesday, 15 May 2024, in front of the Aula of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) at Patrónka (Bratislava). The idea was to change the perspective of young scientists or potential PhD students on their careers. It was both a pilot event and an exceptional opportunity for those who plan to finish their university studies in the coming weeks and are looking for further education and scientific career opportunities. In the end, more than 200 people attended.
On behalf of the Institute of Geography of the Slovak Academy of Sciences team, the event was attended by our PhD students, MSc. Katarína Čuláková and MSc. Šimon Opravil – who informed the interested students about scientific research activities, opportunities for cooperation and last but not least about the current topic for doctoral studies in the coming school year. The program also included a Quiz conducted interactively via mobile devices and included a team composed of our (not only presenting) PhD students, who came in 2nd place.
The main organizer of the Doctoral Storm was the platform Young Scientists of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, in which our colleague – Mgr. Tomáš Goga, PhD. – is been active since 2020. The event was financially supported by the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
