[JOURNAL] Landscape Changes Near the State Border

Changes in land use near the state border between Poland and Slovakia on the example of a 15.7 km long stretch of the border were analysed in an article by the team of authors Więckowski et al. (2024), of which Daniel Michniak was a part. Until 1989, the state border was a barrier to the development of this territory, and the initially closed border gradually became an internal border of the Schengen area. The change in the border regime brought new opportunities for cross-border cooperation, reflected in the economic growth of localities close to the border.

The article “From closed border to open tourist space: Landscape changes along the Polish-Slovak border” was published in GeoJournal (Springer Nature) – IF 2022: 2.7.
