The regularly published Annual Report on activities and finances for 2023 is now available on our website. This year’s report stands out in various aspects compared to previous reports.
This year, we highlight the following key points:
- Celebration of 80th Anniversary with conference: The Institute of Geography SAS commemorated its 80th anniversary through the conference, where experiences and ideas were exchanged.
- Exhibition “Journey (to) the City”: Our dedicated staff organized an exhibition titled “Journey (to) the City,” providing an intriguing perspective on the relationship between urban environments and geography.
- Collaboration with the Cartographic Society of Slovakia: In partnership with the Cartographic Society, we published a publication on the Children’s Map of the World, supporting geographical thinking among children and youth.
- Active Participation in APVV Projects: The Institute actively contributed to solving six APVV projects, thereby contributing to developing geographical research and knowledge.
- Projects Supported by the European Space Agency: The Geographical Institute actively worked on two projects supported by the European Space Agency, exploring geographical aspects of space.
- Pedagogical Activities: Our colleagues dedicated 654 hours to pedagogical activities, shaping a new generation of geographers and researchers.
- Scientific Publications: Staff members published 28 scientific papers in renowned journals indexed in databases such as WOS and SCOPUS, with 13 featured in Current Contents Connect.
- International Conference Participation: Geographical Institute staff actively represented Slovak geographical research at international conferences, including events in Spain (EUGEO), South Africa (ICC), and Japan (STS).
