International Conference on Urban Greenery in Antalya, Turkey

From April 27 to 30, 2026, the annual meeting of COST Action CA23148 – European Network for the Integrative Approach of Urban Forestry (INTUF) – took place in Antalya, Turkey, under the title “Building Capacity for Urban Forest Management across Europe: Indicators, Knowledge, and Participation.” The event brought together 50 researchers from 24 European countries and focused on sustainable urban forest management, indicators, public participation, and the link between research and practice.

The Institute of Geography of the Slovak Academy of Sciences was represented at the event by Tomáš Gogo, who also serves as vice-chair of COST Action CA23148. The program included specialised workshops, keynote lectures by international experts, and presentations of current scientific findings in the fields of urban greenery, climate resilience of cities, and strategic management of urban greenery

The conference program featured presentations of current scientific findings in urban greenery. A total of 26 technical papers were presented, including poster presentations. Special attention was given to identifying indicators for more effective urban green space management, stakeholder engagement, ecosystem service assessment, and linking research with the practical management of the urbanised environment. The practical part of the program took place at the Antalya Environmental Education and Innovation Centre, where participants worked with tools for tree inventory and monitoring of urban forest structures, including the i-Tree and Tree-Quest systems.
